Introduction

This is the original title of the exhibit, that was held in Subartu center in Qamishli on 30-12-2014. The exhibit was attended by people interested in archaeology and history.

There was 19 panels in Arabic and Kurdish telling the story of Hurrians and their history and the excavations in the tell with the most important finds. The panels were based on the informations found at Urkesh.org and the book (an invitation to tell Mozan) which is the first book in Kurdish. Because of the great role that Giorgio Buccellati and Marilyn-Kelly Buccellati played in discovering this city and bringing it back to the light, we dedicated this exhibit to them.

Tell Mozan was chosen because it is one of the largest tells in the Jezirah region and because of its important finds. And because the scientific, archaeological and historical activities are in the core of the Subartu association, we did this exhibit, which is not the first. The first was in 2013 entitled (our monuments in photographs) and it was about major Tells in the Jazirah region. In May 2014 we did an exhibit on protecting the city of Hassan Kef in Turkey, because it was being submerged.

We also take several scientific field trips to archaeological Tells like Arbid, Leilan, beydar, Tell She’ir.

The Mozan exhibit lasted 3 days and it was extended for 2 more days due to the number of people who came. The exhibit will travel to other cities as well.

The head quarter of the Subartu association is a rented basement in the city of Qamishli, and we have members in all governorates. We mostly focus on having members who are students of archeology and history or interested in both fields.
